Artisan Scented Candle — Caste x De Sousa Hughes
The Object
We asked Caste — the Texas-based studio known for furniture with a geological quality — to create a scent that smells like our showroom feels. They delivered.
The fragrance is built around three notes: aged cedar (the showroom floors, original to the Design Center), paper whites (the flowers our founder kept on her desk for 26 years), and a trace of sea salt (because San Francisco — the bay is three miles away and the fog carries it). It burns clean for roughly 60 hours. The vessel is heavy glass, unlabeled except for a debossed Caste x DSH mark on the base. When the wax is gone, the vessel becomes a drinking glass or a brush holder or just stays where it is because it looks right.
Why This Matters
Caste is one of our most sought-after furniture lines. Their dining tables and consoles command five figures and lead times measured in months. This candle is the way to bring something Caste into your space tomorrow — not next season. A scent is the smallest room you can design.
